National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week. It was created to honor school nurses and to foster a better understanding of why school nurses are needed to care for the physical and mental health needs of students.
Books
The school nurse from the black lagoon
Thaler, Mike ; Lee, Jared D.
A story that follows the wild (and somewhat gory) imagination of a boy’s fears about the school nurse, Miss Hearse. When he is forced to visit Miss Hearse for some strange blue dot rash on his hand, he finds she is not so scary after all! A fun story, if you’re okay with a little Halloween style “kid horror.”
School People
Hopkins, Lee ; Shi, Ellen
Welcome to school, a building of brick full of soul and heart, eager for students and staff to fill its halls with sounds. This anthology of fifteen poems celebrates the grown-up people that children encounter throughout the course of their school day: the school bus driver with her morning smile, the teacher who inspires imagination, the rarely seen, yet caring custodian, and the nurse who heals hurts, big and small.
